Get ready for summer with this easy boxed bead crochet koozie pattern! Available in 5 different sizes you’ll be able to make one for all your favorite beverages. Sizes include: 12 oz Tall Skinny Can (White Claw, Truly, High Noon, etc), Standard Can (or 12 oz coffee), 16 or 20 oz Tallboy Can, 16 oz Coffee (or solo cup) and 24 – 31 oz Coffee Cup (Starbucks Venti & Trenta).

The Boxed Bead Koozie is something I have wanted to make for quite a few years. The ironic thing is it took me being pregnant with my second baby to finally get around to making it! I knew I wanted to make a koozie of some sort but was not sure of what to stitch or yarn I would use. I originally was set on using Lily Sugar n’ Cream but after many attempts, I was not getting the stitch dimension or stretch I wanted from the 100% cotton yarn. So I went into my stash and pulled out old trusty Bernat Home Dec yarn.
I can’t say enough how much I love Bernat Home Dec yarn! It was one of the first yarns I ever purchased and helped tremendously when I was first learning how to crochet. There’s something about the tubular shape that just makes the stitches look so defined and clean. I know this yarn is impossible to find in person but I have found great deals on it on both eBay and Amazon. The yarn is perfect for absorbing moisture on a hot summer day and the natural stretch makes it easy to get on and off any beverage.
After I decided on what yarn to use, I was still struggling with what stitch. After trying a dozen or so different stitches, I fell in love with the Boxed Bead Stitch. The extended single crochets fenced around each Bead Stitch gives so much definition making the finished koozie very eye-catching. After my first prototype, I decided to test it out at our local park with my favorite matcha latte and immediately started getting compliments from other moms. After that, I knew I had a winner!

You can make approximately 8 koozies per skein of yarn making it a very affordable gift. - You will check your gauge after completing the base and then measure the diameter of it laying flat.
- Finished Size Measurements made with koozie laying flat.
- I recommend using a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of each row.
- If you would like to change colors: yarn over with new color before completing the stitch before your color change.
- The Boxed Bead Stitch is compromised of two special stitches:
- Extended Single Crochet (esc) is how we maintain an even row height in between each bead stitch.
- Slanting Cluster aka Bead Stitch (slcl)
Skinny Can (12oz)
Fits tall skinny cans such as: White Claw, Truly, High Noon, etc.
Base: worked in the round.
Magic Ring, 6 sc into the ring or ch 3, 2 sc into 2nd ch from hook, 3 sc in next ch then sl st into 1st ch (counts as st), making a circle. (6)
Round 1: * 2 sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in next* (9)
Round 2: *2 sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in next 2 sc* (12)
Round 3: *2 sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in next 3 sc* (15)

American Version:
To complete the Red, White and Blue color changed version of the pattern follow these steps:
- Base + Row 1 of Height = Red
- Change Colors (CC) to Blue for all of Row 2 repeats
- CC to white just for the Bead Stitch
- CC back to Red for the final row of Slip Stitches.
- For changing colors, yarn over with new color before completing the stitch before your color change.
